Remember that eighties song, ‘Everybody’s working for the weekend!’?
For me, family is super important so this one had to be listed as first. As an extrovert, this one is easy for me and can sometimes be as simple as showing up, but even introverts should spend some time connecting and socializing with their loved ones.
For an introvert, it may look a little different, but even if you love spending time alone, social interaction is an important aspect of human development.
Most of us live the unfortunate reality of living in the city. Looking around, you may feel like this isn’t a viable option for me because there are no hills and mountains anywhere in the East Village.
Well, it’s the weekend. If now isn’t the perfect time to escape to the country then I don’t know when is.
If you are in the East Village, you can take a train North and find so much greenery it’ll make your head explode.
Perhaps in a later article, I will offer some hiking suggestions or trails within just a few hours of popular cities accessible by public transportation, but finding this out would definitely be an added experience to enhancing your weekend experience.
Maybe you can’t swim; I’ve been pretending all my life. You know, it’s not that I can’t swim… I think I probably can swim but I have some anxiety which stops me from really enjoying the water.
Swimming however presents a great opportunity to get some exercise in, which is good for the brain and body, but also for the soul!
If you’ve lucky enough to be coastal, or on a small island, outdoor swimming, particularly at a beach or a lake is particularly awesome because being outside is always better than being, well, not outside.
If you want to give back to your community, while engaging in an activity that makes your feel good… this is the one.
Let’s be honest- true altruism is really really hard to state here a a motivating factor, but at least if you volunteer you can add to your CV, occupy some time, be part of a community and build your network, perhaps learn a new skill and if you’re really honest about it all… Have Fun!
As a volunteer, you can choose your own cause and that’s what makes it an amazing opportunity to rebalance yourself. Many times, we’re unable to choose our jobs.
Who has the time to learn a new skill when you have to work Monday through Friday from sun up to sundown, right?
Well, how about your weekend? Of course there may be an investment, but in many cases you might realize it’s totally worth it.
Many times, you can use these skills to increase your personal worth and value and in some cases, it can contribute directly to your bottom line by earning you some extra income, IF it’s possible to turn it into a side hustle. As the very least, you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment from adding to your skillset and that is a benefit worth much more than it’s weight in BITCOIN!
Doing your own cooking is healthier!
Not only is fast food bad for you, dining out too much can really make you poor. If you’re really honest with yourself there’s so much value that comes with spending time in the kitchen, and cooking can be used as a form of meditation, in many cases.
Not many people can cook though. Hey, maybe that new skill challenge may come in handy here! There’s also major value in meal-prepping and knowing exactly what if feeding you all week. This can actually help increase your productivity during the week ultimately lowering your stress.
What a week! Now is a fantastic time to detox. Besides being able to get your physiological systems rebooted, at the very least you can give your body a break from all the meat consumed during the week.
Detox as a word has gotten a bad wrap. Some say it’s not even necessary. To those who say that, I say- I disagree.

Body Tense? Get some work done on it. In my ideal world, I’m getting work on my shoulder and lower back area 3 times a week, every week. But, while this may not be a feasible option for you… and to be fair, it’s really not for me right now either, getting a qualified message therapist to give you an alignment or adjustment is extremely beneficial for your body.
YES! Do it! Get some, playa playa! Human beings are gregarious and the benefits of interpersonal interaction is super super important. More importantly, you need someone to have sex with!
