Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique. Mindfulness in a nutshell is your mindset and how you focus your awareness. Mindfulness ties in both being present in each moment and intentional living.
Many people will talk about how you can change your whole life with Mindfulness if you stop what you are doing, change all your thoughts, habits, and routines. It’s that simple they tell you. You can change your whole life through mindfulness but you don’t have to uproot your whole life to get there.
I am here to tell you that mindfulness can be implemented slowly and create a snowball effect. You can practice Mini-Mindfulness and over time build up a practice of mindfulness and intentional living.
Mindfulness can start very small. You can start with a few of these activities:
Once you begin these small activities you will start to naturally become more mindful and present. Choose one activity to start with then build with a second or third activity. Start with a few minutes of meditation and expand to 10-15 minutes. Over time the small activities and small actions will start to train your mind to be more mindful. It will come naturally without upending your whole life and making a million changes all at once.
Mini-Mindfulness comes down to Mind over Matter. Your body and soul will do the work and that’s why you don’t have to change your whole life overnight. Once you start to control your mind and thoughts and focus on the present mindfulness will come naturally!
